JCCP Announces Leadership Changes and Future Recruitment Plans

The JCCP celebrates its eighth anniversary in February 2026 as a registered charity. Over that period of time, it has established itself as one of the key bodies in the aesthetic industry devoted to patient safety with activities linked to establishing standards, best practice, education and training alongside campaigning to introduce regulation into the sector. Throughout this period, it has been led by Professor David Sines CBE who is its Executive Chair and Registrar ably assisted by many volunteers who are industry experts.

Professor Sines along with Professor Mary Lovegrove OBE (Chair JCCP Education and Training Committee) and Dawn Knight (Patient Representative) have decided to stand down from their respective roles as the two terms of 4 years is reached. The JCCP would like to thank all three for the incredible contribution they have made to the development of the JCCP, in terms of patient safety and raising standards in the sector.

For the JCCP business continuity is critical and it has introduced a number of interim measures alongside a clear recruitment plan for these critical roles. The key actions are set out below:

Interim Actions

Andrew Rankin and Dr Martyn King will share the Executive Chair and Registrar role while a new chair is recruited. Andrew Rankin will also act as the JCCP Registrar which is a specific requirement of the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). The JCCP Education and Training Vice Chair, Debra Morris will take over as Chair until a replacement can be found. The JCCP Trustee Board has two patient representatives so the remaining one, Kimberley Cairns will support this activity while a new person is recruited.

Recruitment Process

The JCCP Trustee Board has agreed a recruitment process for all three roles and agreed the following:

  • Detailed updated  job descriptions.
  • A timetable for recruitment is in place with adverts for the post being placed now.
  • A deadline has been set of 30th March for applications to be made.
  • Interview processes.
  • Recruitment strategy including advertising agreed.

It is anticipated that replacements can be found and in post by mid/late summer.

Professor David Sines said,

‘It has been a great pleasure and privilege to have served as the inaugural Executive Chair and Registrar of the JCCP. During my term of office, we have witnessed significant progress in achieving the JCCP ‘s corporate aim of promoting patient safety and public protection and been successful in supporting the design of a new national system of licensing and regulation for the aesthetic sector in both England and Scotland.

The next phase of the JCCP‘s work will be no less challenging. As such the appointment of excellent and experienced candidates to these three pivotal JCCP Trustee positions will be crucial as we enter the implementation phase of national licensing and regulatory schemes’.

Andrew Rankin said,

We remain undaunted in our commitment to implementing the strategies that have been the focus of our attention over the last 10 years. We will continue to work with stakeholders and experts to reach the shared decisions and understanding that is critical to shaping the cosmetic sector in the best interests of patient safety.
