The Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP) has appointed Lloyd Bracey as its new Chair, bringing significant experience of governance, regulated environments, regulatory assurance, and strategic communication to the role.
Lloyd has extensive experience working with senior leaders and boards in complex and highly regulated environments. His career has given him a strong understanding of the governance, accountability and ethical standards required to protect the public and maintain confidence in regulated organisations.
He has also spent many years consulting to pharmaceutical companies, where patient safety, regulatory discipline and ethical practice are fundamental. This experience has given Lloyd a strong appreciation of the governance frameworks and regulatory assurance necessary to protect patients and maintain public trust.
Lloyd also brings considerable expertise in communicating complex and sensitive issues clearly and effectively. As Chair, he will help ensure that the JCCP communicates its purpose, standards and position with clarity, authority and consistency, engaging effectively with regulators, practitioners, stakeholders and the public. His experience of working in high-scrutiny environments will support the JCCP in building understanding, confidence and trust around important issues affecting the sector.
Lloyd joins the JCCP at an important stage in the development of the cosmetic sector, with increasing recognition of the need for robust education and training standards, appropriate safeguards around high-risk procedures and effective professional accountability.
As Chair, Lloyd will focus on providing strong governance, independent oversight and strategic leadership, supporting the JCCP’s core purpose of protecting the public through robust professional standards and effective accountability.
A key priority will be ensuring that the JCCP continues to operate with strong governance and regulatory assurance, working effectively with its Board, executive team and wider stakeholders as the organisation develops its role and responsibilities.
Strengthening the JCCP’s leadership structure
Alongside Lloyd’s appointment as Chair, Andrew Rankin has been appointed Registrar of the JCCP.
The Chair and Registrar roles provide distinct but complementary areas of leadership. As Chair, Lloyd will provide strategic leadership to the organisation, with a particular focus on governance, Board oversight, stakeholder engagement and communicating the JCCP’s purpose and position clearly and credibly.
As Registrar, Andrew will provide specialist leadership and oversight in relation to the JCCP’s professional and regulatory functions, drawing on his extensive experience within the organisation and the cosmetic sector. Andrew will maintain his oversight of the JCCP’s Practitioner Register Committee and Clinical Advisory Group and continue his engagement with regulators and other stakeholders.
The distinction between the two roles strengthens the JCCP’s governance structure, bringing together strategic leadership and specialist regulatory and professional expertise, while ensuring clear accountability across the organisation.
Andrew Rankin said:
“Following a rigorous interview process it was clear that Lloyd was the right fit for the JCCP, taking us to the next stage of our operations and long-term strategy. Lloyd’s commitment to this new challenge underscores his dedication to our shared vision and, for the JCCP, it signals our continued commitment to our core charitable objectives. We are delighted to welcome Lloyd to the team, and we look forward to his leadership. ”
Lloyd Bracey said:
‘It's an honour to succeed David Sines and continue the commitment he has brought to the JCCP from the start. From journalism, I bring the habit of unpicking complex information to make it accessible; from pharma comms, the non-negotiable principle that patient safety must come first. With the vast experience of the JCCP’s existing members behind me, my aim in combining these approaches is to strengthen our voice and advance public protection in the years ahead.’
The JCCP looks forward to Lloyd’s leadership and Andrew’s continued contribution as it strengthens its governance, professional standards, regulatory assurance and communication across the cosmetic sector.
